When I was younger I had friends that I could trust
Likeminded people I could turn to when I’m feeling lost
But now I’m getting older, everyone is moving on
And I can’t blame them because no one wants a pessimist around for very long

But look on the bright side
You’ll never wonder how I’m feeling on the inside
I can’t fake content in spite of everything that’s wrong
I guess that’s why people never want to be around for very long

So what’s next?
I don’t know what you expect
I’m just a constant disappointment with a lack of respect

Most people spent their 20’s making friends and having sex
But I lack the social skills that others use to connect

Its not my fault, my parents left me as a kid;
Ever since I’m only capable of seeming un-relatable;

I prefer self-deprecation over verbal masturbation
Because small talk makes me sick and I can’t give you validation

Notwithstanding their predictions
I’ve exceeded expectations
I’m alive despite my efforts

I am not well-adjusted, but I can be trusted;

But what’s the point of existence when you live in exile
